1. We Are Liars

This show debuts on Prime Video in July 2025 and is based on the 2014 YA mystery novel ‘We Are Liars’ by Lockhart. This show follows Cady Sinclair, who spends her summer on her family’s private island. In one of these summers, there was a terrible accident that I struggled to remember and understand what happened last summer. This was such a good watch. I hadn’t read the books before watching this. I had no idea what I was getting into, but this show was truly amazing. The show has been renewed for season 2, set to release in 2027.

2. Outerbanks

This show has mystery, romance, summer and adventure and is set on a small island in North Carolina. This show follows a friendship group, their adventures, and treasure hunting around the world, all while trying to understand the world around them and themselves as teenagers and now young adults. The Outer Banks series was released back in April 2020, and since then, it has remained quite popular year-round. According to an IMDb article, back in 2024, when season four was released, ‘After the first half of Season 4 debuted atop the list following its October 10 premiere with 15.5 million views.’ This Year, the final season will be released at the end of the Year.

3. The Summer I Turned Pretty

This show showcases themes of coming of age, grief, and romance. This show has popularity amongst women aged 18-34. The Hollywood Reporter reported that “Some 70 million people worldwide watched the Prime Video series.” The show is based on the YA romance novel ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty,’ written by Jenny Han. The show follows the story of a young girl and her love for her summers. Since she was a baby, she has summered at her cousin’s beach with her mum, her brother, her mum’s best friend, and her sons. The series will be getting a movie soon; the dates have not been announced, but as of the 27th April, they have started filming.

4. Till Summer Do Us Part by Megan Quinn

The Book is definitely the best kind of Romantic Comedy, written by New York Times bestselling author, Megan Quinn. In this story, follow Scottie Price in a male-dominated workspace, where everyone is married. In an attempt to impress her boss, she fabricated a husband at a work meeting. To save face after a colleague noticed her lack of a wedding ring, she mentioned she is in an unhappy marriage. Her boss share about a one–on–one session with a well-recommended counsellor, who happens to be her boss’s husband. This Book follows the tropes of fake dating, forced proximity, best friends’ brother, and friends-to-lovers. I think this read is perfect for travelling and the books are so funny. I suggest listening to the Book because it is very comedic.

5. Avalon Bay Series by Elle Kennedy

And lastly but certainly not least, the ‘Avalon Bay’ Series written by New York Times bestselling author, Elle Kennedy. This Book Series is an interconnected New Adult Contemporary Romance set in one of those summer towns. In this story, three couples are followed, and it was released between 2022 23. This series has drama, romance, comedy and banter. For me, reading it made me feel like I was experiencing summer all Year round, even when it wasn’t hot.

My Fault London premiered in February 2025 and currently holds the number one spot for a romance movie on Prime Video. In this My Fault storyline, it follows an 18-year-old Noah Morgan (Asha Banks) as she moves from Florida across the pond to London with her mum, who has entered into a new marriage with a stepfather. When she meets her stepbrother (Matthew Broome), an attraction develops despite their efforts to deny it. This film follows danger, romance and street racing. On 17th June, the second film, Your Fault, will hit screens globally.

The experience as a ticket buyer was chaotic. Fans shared a lack of information regarding the meeting point, an AI-curated fashion lookbook, and a two-hour wait to go to the actual premiere if they were a blue wristband holder. A fan shared on Tiktok about her experience, stating, “I fear we need to talk about how badly this premiere was organised.” It truly makes one question what was going on in the organiser’s head when planning the event.

If you were part of the press, an influencer, or personally invited to the event. You were provided a location to pick up your tickets at a safe location in the hotel. Whereas... fans were given a dodgy corner in the back roads of Leicester Square, to pick up our wristband- like we were picking a “score”.

Before watching the film, we got to hear from Asha and Mathew about their experience and what fans should expect from the second film. After the film, there were opportunities for fans to get photos, and it made the experience worth the wait.

Overall, I would say that in the future, they should provide better safety for fans, as many of them, including myself, have a deep appreciation for the work that goes into the film and should be treated with the same respect as influencers or press attending the event.

On 8th June, Midnight Books hosted a panel talk, moderated by Coco Omer, featuring bestselling authors Liz Tomforde, Lucy Score, and Meghan Quinn. This event was held by Waterstones at the Emmanuel Centre in London. This event is part of a UK tour in Edinburgh, Manchester, London, and Bath. London was the first stop on the tour.

The night was a celebration of the author’s release of the year: In Her Own League by Liz Tomforde, Rules of the Summer by Meghan Quinn and Mistakes Were Made by Lucy Score. The night was full of laughter, jokes, and some signed-edition goodies. We got some insight about upcoming releases for 2027.

This night was an experience of a lifetime for the book community in the UK to interact with their favourite authors, who created the worlds they are passionate about. Midnight Books and Waterstones definitely created lasting memories; this panel and evening were truly everything.

1. Never Ever After By Emily McIntire

This series follows your favourite fairy tales, flipped to focus on the villain, and offers a modern spin on these well-beloved stories. There are currently six books within the series: Hooked, Scarred, Wretched, Twisted, Crossed and Hexed. This book series is a new adult dark romance, perfect for getting lost in the fairy tale. Make sure to check the author’s website for trigger warnings, as the series carries heavy themes.

2. Chestnut Springs by Elsie Silver

This small-town romance would definitely have you in the world of bull riding and small-town life. The Book series explores tropes such as enemies-to-lovers, forced proximity, sports romance, age gap, pregnancy trope, marriage of convenience, and more. This interconnected new adult Contemporary romance will make you fall in love with the Eaton Family (and their friends) and the world of Chestnut Springs.

3. Nightshade by Autumn Woods

This dark academia contemporary romance introduces you to the world of Sorrowsong University. In this book, the journey of Ophelia Winters and her experience at a university in the Highlands of Scotland is followed. She uses her experience at the university to explore and investigate the mystery behind her parents’ death near the castle grounds of her university.

This book is full of mystery, romance, and so much drama. The second book is coming out in July 2026, so this will be a perfect time to read the first book before the second.

4.   The Whole Briar Universe by Elle Kennedy 

This book series doesn’t need quite the introduction, as the series that started the universe has recently been adapted and released on Prime Video on the 13th May. I suggest anyone read the whole Briar U universe from Off Campus, Briar U, Campus Diaries, and the Next Gen standalones.

Within these series, the love stories of young people at university and the experiences of falling in love. In an interconnected new adult sports romance centred on the hockey team, with a focus on the players who live in the off-campus house. 

With the TV series now out, it’s the perfect time to learn about the whole Briar U universe, as it’s continuously expanding, with Bad Idea by Elle Kennedy coming out at the end of this year. 

5. Anything by Megan Quinn

If you are looking for an author with the best sense of humour, I suggest you read any of Megan Quinn’s books. She has written many books across different tropes and seasons, such as sports romance, billionaire, winter, and summer. The reads I suggest for your road trips and future tropical getaways are Bridesmaid for Hire, Bay Area Players, and Till Summer Do Us Part.

In 2003, Lauren Weisberger released her book ‘The Devil Wears Prada’, which was based on her experience working as a personal assistant to Anna Wintour, the editor-in-chief of Vogue. Weisberger later wrote this book as part of a series of 5 books published by HarperCollins. In 2005, they started filming The Devil Wears Prada, which was then released in 2006, and now, 20 years later, it has a sequel.

With The Devil Wears Prada, the original, that is what first started my interest in the fashion journalist world outside of Bratz.

I wanted to be an ‘Emily’ with that kind of determination, which is what I aspired to do by working in that field. Still, now I am a BA Fashion Journalism and Content Creation Student and would not have found out about this course if it were not for The Devil Wears Prada.

Before the screening, I was already seeing mixed reviews online, and I did not know what to expect when walking into the theatre to see this film. In the opening scene of the film, which recreates what was done in the first, it felt nostalgic, like not a lot of time had passed. The messaging I noticed in this film centres on reflection and growth.

When we were first introduced to Andy’s Character in the first film, she was a fresh graduate with little knowledge of the fashion world. She appeared very judgmental about what fashion is. She later realises that fashion is more than seeing on runways; it’s an art, an identity, and a way to express yourself in new ways.

In this film, we get to see how each person has grown from who they were in the first film. They all ended up achieving goals they wanted to be in the first film, and/or changed for the better. I personally loved this film and its storyline about the change in the journalistic world: how, now, compared to the 2000s, everything is digital, and AI potentially replaces art, fashion, and journalism. My favourite moment from the film is when they were making a montage of Andy writing stories for runaway, because in those montages there’s a lot of single-hand camera movements and slow zoom-ins. Like the rushing of the zooms, it made you feel what it’s like to be in her head, and I really loved that moment.

Overall, going into the film, there are many different kinds of audiences.

With audiences still forming judgments and critiques about the authenticity of The Devil Wears Prada, we don’t need to critique it for its accuracy, depending on your experiences in the fashion world; some of these Actors may not have ever worked in fashion. Still, they may have had opportunities to be around people who have worked in the fashion industry. That is the interpretation of audiences; it doesn’t need to be highly accurate to the state of journalism today, because the journalistic world is continually changing from broadcast journalism to podcasting to writing. Journalism is unique. Still, it has changed: among today’s journalists, not all those trained in university have shifted into journalism; some are social media content creators. The Devil Wears Prada 2 is like an open ending; it can be interpreted in different ways, and it will be unique to each person who watches it.

The Off-Campus is a New Adult Interconnected Hockey College Romance written by Elle Kennedy. This Series follows the love stories of four hockey players who live in off-campus residences. These books were released between 2015 and 2021 and have two spin-offs, one second gen and the other follows the lower-class men. The Show would be like Bridgerton but with University and Hockey.

The Off-Campus is coming out on 13th May on Prime Video, and we get to see the story of The Deal, which follows the tropes of fake dating, friends with benefits, and friends-to-lovers. The Show is two weeks away, and fans are excited to see this well-loved BookTok Book being adapted.

The ‘Off Campus’ Series is not that far from coming on to our screens. This New York Bestseller and well-known BookTok favourite will be available on Prime Video from 13th May. The Off-Campus book series is an interconnected New Adult College Sports Romance series that follows the love stories of members of Briar U’s Hockey. This series has two spin-offs: Briar U, which follows the lower-class men of Briar U’s Hockey Team, and The Campus Diaries, which is a second-generation storyline. We get to see the characters from Briar U & Off Campus as parents. There was also a recent release of ‘Love Song’, which follows the story of Blake Logan and Wyatt Graham. That book was released on 17th March.

The focus of this season will be Hannah Wells and Garret Graham’s Book, which follows the tropes of fake dating, opposites attract, friends-to-lovers, and her tutoring him. This Book series was originally published in 2015 – 21, which means the characters would have been born in the late 90s, making them Millennials. Things the characters would have been engaging with in the books may be interpreted differently in the show, which may portray Gen Z in college.

All the episodes will be released on 13th May. In February, it was announced that the Off-Campus Series will be renewed for a second season.

The Other Woman

This Film is one of my favourite romantic comedies, I love the soundtrack mainly and the comedy. This film follows three different women in different stages in their life but the one thing they are romantically involved with is the same man , this film stars Cameroon Diaz , Leslie Mann and Kate Upton. I love this film and how after the horrid experience that is Mark they all grew whether in career and with new partners but the best scenes hands down has to be; Mark’s Mantrum which is absolutely chaotic and comedic , if i am having a bad i will just search the video of his mantrum and I just be laughing so hard at his distress of being caught. The Second Scene is the little montage scene when Kate & Carly first bond and that scene truly embodies ‘womanhood’.

Bridgerton – Season Four

Bridgerton will always be one of my favourite romantic dramas to watch but this season was truly beautiful.I love watching this show as it gives so much serotonin, I love the fact that this show represents that love can come in so many different formats and giving so many communities a chance to see themselves on screen.In this season I felt there was a continuous theme of goodbye as now all of the ‘ABCD’ are now officially married and now that leaves Eloise, Francesca, Gregory & Hyacinth, but I wrote a whole review on season four that you can read.

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before Franchise

This film series I have always watched around February as it is the first romcom that I watched as a 13 year old. I love the books and started reading it during lockdown. But this franchise is truly a beautiful story. It speaks about grief , fears of change , coming of age themes as well. Lara Jean is the OG Jenny Han girl to make the screen and I love watching her and Peters story but also Kitty’s journey in Korea as international student, and the third season is coming out on April 2, 2026, only on Netflix.

Another Amazing season in the ton this year, in the Bridgerton world: the tale of Cinderella has been told many times before. I loved every part of this season, from the soundtrack and costumes to the new characters and the love that has been shared on-screen.

Benedict and Sophie’s story was truly unique as the two worlds joined together, the world of the upstairs and the world of the downstairs. I was scared to see what they would do with this, as out of all the Bridgerton books, ‘An Offer from a Gentleman’ is one of my favourites, and I was so excited to see the adaptation.

In the show, the storyline I enjoyed most was Hyacinth’s rush to join society, and her recital was absolutely adorable. I just felt like a proud parent watching her and Gregory dancing with a few society teens, and it was so cute, I loved it.

Another storyline I really enjoyed was watching Francesca’s relationship with Michaela build, seeing their friendship, and also seeing that Francesca’s book was still somewhat represented in the show. I know there’s a lot of discourse on social media about the gender swap of Michaela’s character from Michael, but as we have seen in seasons past, Bridgerton is very creative. The Shonderland team is very innovative in making these books magical. I’m so sad that John died, as I did not like seeing his death. I’m glad they didn’t do the whole thing of like showing his “dead body”, as I felt like, as a watcher and reader of the book series, it was like we were in the room, but we were distant from it.

Now, Eloise, I kept laughing about seeing her interactions with society men. I really related to Eloise on this because I have a similar reaction when I come across men and flirting. Her relationship with Hyacinth during her finishing lessons really changed her view of society. I see how she is becoming a bit lonely at the beginning of part one, when both Penelope and Francesca were having their little-sister-in-law relationship. She was left out because she was the only unmarried person in her family. It must be really hard to see everyone in your family fall in love, and then you’re just by yourself. We may see her next season, but we may not, because there are so many, many unresolved feelings in the show. When I finished watching the show, we said goodbye permanently.

But back to Benedict and Sophie their relationship and their whole dynamic was absolutely adorable to watch like the scenes in the beginning when they first met at the ball from like that entire scene I was just giggling and kicking my feet and just absolutely being in all of their love like you know the main thing that got me is when he was saying his like sharing his love for Sophie and crying like if a man cries for you when he’s telling you he loves you like that got me crying like I was crying too but things that I was like loving about the season is that Sophie is just like the embodiment of a socially awkward girl.

However, she still has a little fire, which I love, and I love her relationship with Alfie. He’s just so supportive of her decisions, and in helping Sophie learn about her father’s will. And her relationship proposal. I love their relationship in the books, but it wasn’t displayed as much; I love the relationship in the show, and it’s so cute.

I love Posie character like she’s just a bundle of joy and she’s just like like she’s just like a bundle of sunshine that you wanna protect. She remains true, and I love the little talk she had with Eloise because Eloise really helped her shift how she sees herself and how her mum treats her. After all, her mum didn’t treat her like a valued member of the family, and she valued Rosamund’s prospects.

The ending of Bridgerton, the main thing I want to highlight, is the relationship between Queen Charlotte and Lady Danbury. We have seen in the Queen Charlotte series at the beginning of Bridgerton how beautiful their relationship is, as they have a sister-like bond that spans decades. Agatha always knows how to motivate and engage in conversation with Charlotte, and we’ll miss the next season if we don’t see her while she’s in her country. But with Charlotte realising that her husband may not be around for long, I think that’s something that’s making her be scared because she’s discovering there’s going to be a future where she’s going to be by herself without her love and then also not having her best friend and her gossip writer is definitely going to be a shift.

Still, we are seeing a new Lady Whistledown, which I’m super excited to see, like how Penelope feels about giving up her pen, but someone taking a pen and giving it a different twist. My personal predictions for who the next Whistledown is vary between Eloise, Hyacinth & Alice.

But to end the summary, this season was truly one of the best seasons of Bridgerton. I say that about every season, but I genuinely mean it because I loved this book, so I truly mean that this is the best. I loved it so many things in one season like the idea of growing up and everyone in your life is changing and doing stuff that you’re not doing and you have to sit back and watch from watching grief and from different formats from growing from grief and remaining and running how to ship a new life whilst still grieving but also trying to learn how to grow and become a better person.

On the 19th of December, I saw Avatar: Fire and Ash, the movie was absolutely incredible, it felt like it was I was watching three movies at the same time, for I felt like that because in the editing style of the film the kept using this fade to black transition and I would be thinking “Has the film ended already ?”, watching this film felt like saying goodbye and hello at the same time, there were characters that we got to see again, we also got see Eywa, which I creeped out about mainly because she considered to deity a goddess, it felt weird seeing her in the film. 

This film was absolutely amazing, with its storyline, the new Navi clan, and seeing Spider finally adapt into the Pandora ecosystem. It was well-deserved. Raised in this world, it made sense for him to blend into the world he was raised in. However, seeing them (Spider and Kiri) kiss, I cringed. Mainly because I know the age gap of the actors, that’s what got me weirded out.

Ronal’s death had me crying because she was not able to see her little girl grow up outside of the spirit tree. This scene really broke my heart, but I feel sorry for Tonowari, as he is now a single dad to three kids and running his tribe.

On 5th December, I went to FNAF 2, which was absolutely incredible. This film was truly a masterpiece. I felt so bad for Abby; she, in the first movie, was already struggling to make friends, and now she has grief over her lost friendships with animatronics, including Freddy, Foxy, Bonnie & Chica. It was nice to see Vanessa’s backstory a bit in this, as we get further understanding of her relationship with her father and also how much the events in the first film affected her.

I loved that in this movie, we got to see more about the Five Night Freddy’s universe and also well-loved characters, like the Marionette & Henry Emily. The ending of the film, with the whole “Avengers assemble” scene in the last couple of minutes of the movie, is both cringeworthy and heartwarming at the same time. I am happy that Abby got to see them one more time.

I am going to see this movie, which was definitely 100000000/10 scarier than the first movie. I was crawling into my seat, and had my hands on my knees too many times. I genuinely love horror, but I always end up giving some form of nightmares. After seeing this film, I have been sleeping with a nightlight for the last five days, and you should definitely go and check out the movie while it is still in cinemas.
